The Everest Challenge 2026
An incredible day, raising vital funds for charities across the North.
Picture this: the sun was warm on the backs of over 60 eager hikers, and the air was filled with a gentle hum of excitement as they readied to set off on the expedition of a lifetime – to scale the summit of the iconic Mount Everest!
Now take that image – and put it at the base of Roseberry Topping!
Last Friday an incredible collective of people took part in our Everest Challenge event, in aid of Red Balloons and many other charities, and scaled the height of Everest, through ‘laps’ of the Topping, in teams from businesses across the North. It was an outstanding achievement with every single team completing the mission to help raise funds for Red Balloons and their own nominated charity partner too.
It’s hard to describe the atmosphere – but it was a heady mix of excitement, good-natured rivalry (“who else has done this many laps by now?”, “did we at least beat X?”) and genuine pride in everyone’s achievements. With incredible weather, the laps became harder to complete, but under the watchful eye of our mountain team (Orange John) – everyone did it safely and successfully.
We are over the moon to announce that as a result of the Everest Challenge, the teams have raised an incredible £13,070 for organisations including Red Balloons, Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice, Maggie’s, Teesside Hospice, The Russ Devereaux Headlight Project, St Oswalds Hospice, Point North, Alice House Hospice, Red Sky and more.
It takes a lot of planning, training and perseverance to be able to host and complete a challenge day like this, and we are incredibly grateful to our partners, suppliers, clients and colleagues for all of your support – and donations, of course. Being able to raise such an incredible amount of money AND see so many people finish the day with an incredible sense of achievement and beaming smiles is a genuine privilege.
Thank you all so much.
Donation pages remain open, so please continue to donate in congratulations to the teams from: BluSky Chartered Accountants, ITS, Theo James Recruitment, Align Property Partners, NEL, Interpath, B Local, FW Capital, Expanded Metal, Red Balloons, Seller Presto and Stockton Borough Council.
Congratulations to everyone who took part.
